The Jyotirlinga

 Jyotirlinga is a term used to refer to the twelve most sacred and significant temples of Lord Shiva, which are spread across India. These temples are considered to be the holiest places for the worship of Lord Shiva and are visited by millions of devotees every year.


The twelve Jyotirlingas are:


1-Somnath Jyotirlinga - located in Gujarat

2-Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga - located in Andhra Pradesh

3-Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga - located in Madhya Pradesh

4-Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga - located in Madhya Pradesh

5-Kedarnath Jyotirlinga - located in Uttarakhand

6-Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga - located in Maharashtra

7-Viswanath Jyotirlinga - located in Uttar Pradesh

8-Triambakeshwar Jyotirlinga - located in Maharashtra

9-Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga - located in Jharkhand

10-Nageshwar Jyotirlinga - located in Gujarat

11-Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga - located in Tamil Nadu

12-Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga - located in Maharashtra


It is believed that Lord Shiva himself established these twelve Jyotirlingas, and their significance is described in various Hindu scriptures such as the Shiva Purana, Skanda Purana, and Linga Purana. Each Jyotirlinga has its unique significance and legends associated with it, and they are considered to be highly auspicious for the worship of Lord Shiva. Devotees often embark on a pilgrimage to visit all the twelve Jyotirlingas in order to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
